PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!!
This uniform has us a bit stumped as we have not had a uniform like this in the past. As has ALWAYS been our policy, we almost never add to or take away from any uniform. We always attempt to sell our uniforms exactly as we receive them, UNLESS, there is a glaring, disrespectful, issue.
This uniform IS an authentic US Navy, male, officer, evening dress blues uniform, manufactured by Davis Clothing Company (DCC). The trousers display size ’34R’, the shirt displays size ’15-15 1/2′; however, no size was located on the jacket. You are receiving exactly as we received it.
The uniform displays the lower sleeve rank of US Navy Rear Admiral (Lower). The uniform comes with the jacket, trousers, ‘After-Six’ tuxedo shirt (with studs & buttons), bow tie, and cummerbund.
Now the areas that have us stumped: The jacket displays both lower sleeve lace/rank displaying Rear Admiral (Lower), as well as gold Admiral ‘blank’ shoulder boards (no rank). The lower sleeve lace/rank has the Rear Admiral lace; however, has an attached, pronged, metal ‘star’ (which is more for a uniform in which a single star (representing Admiral/General) is only displayed), as opposed to the sewn star above the gold lower bands. The jacket displays correctly sewn, gold, officer, buttons (to include the chain link closure); however, are not US Navy emblem buttons, but that which appear to be attributed to the Citadel in South Carolina . The shoulder board buttons display the insignia for the United States Navy. This is NOT a cadet uniform, as no Citadel cadet should be wearing this uniform. We are also not aware of any Admiral as Commandant for the Citadel, that may have the mixture of rank/buttons (or even if that is authorized). The cummerbund for an officer should be gold as opposed to the ‘dark blue’ that is present with this uniform. We have reached out to our extensive military veteran connections in attempts to answer some of our questions and as they come in we will update as necessary. The starting price shown is based on the KNOWN knowledge of the uniform as a legitimate US Navy Officer’s evening dress blues. As more information comes in, unless the auction has an active bidder, the starting price may change.
We welcome any assistance any reader can help us with.
