This is a rare and extremely well preserved named & numbered, split brooch US Military Purple Heart. This Purple Heart is low numbered (‘51493’) and comes in the original issue box (NOT THE WOOD PRESENTATION CASE). The number shows it as an early 1930s manufactured medal. Although named and numbered, no information about the soldier could be obtained; however, by viewing historical data from other American Emblem Purple Hearts with numbers prior to and after, all were awarded to World War I Veterans during the mid 1930s, so it is most likely this was issued to a World War I soldier. Although the original paper tag is still on the box, the portion of the tag that shows the number is tore off and missing. The number ‘5’ is still visible and as stated the number on the actual medal show it as an American Emblem manufactured Purple Heart. Due to value actual insurance protection will be added. Please view all photos and ask any questions PRIOR to purchase.
