RARE Prototype US Special Forces Basic Beret/Uniform Insignia w/Green Beret A5

Vintage, authentic US Military, PROPOSED, Special Forces Beret/Uniform full-size insignia proto-type, applied to a foreign made green beret. This proto-type failed to make it through the Pentagons approval and (to our knowledge) was never fully authorized and/or implemented. Our understanding is there were less than ’50’ proto-types of each device officially made for each level (Basic, Senior, & Master). We believe this is one of the original devices as it has the two (2) post-back pins (as the other original’s had), and is not flat as most copies were made. This device is further attached to a foreign made green beret, dated ‘5/88′ and EU sized ’59’ (we have no idea if the beret is also original; however, the initial plan of the insignia was started in the late 70’s and carried on through the early/mid 80’s, which would coincide with the date of the beret.
